Painting policy
Background
Of course members want to personalize their rooms. Often, as well, rooms need a little TLC and could use a coat of paint. However, on several occasions members were painting their rooms bright and lovely colors that the next tenant could not stand, or people were using the wrong paint - latex over oil, for example, or in one case a member began painting with a textured paint, never finished the job, and when she moved out the texture had to be smoothed before new paint could go up. Disaster!
Policy
If members choose to paint their rooms, the house will only pay for paint if,
- the room needs to be painted
- the paint chosen is an approved neutral paint
If members wish to paint a room that doesn't need it, they will have to buy their own paint.
If members choose to use a non approved neutral color, then they must pay to repaint when they move out of the room. It may come out of their damage deposit.
